Health and Safety

Your child's health and the health of others are our top priorities. All health and state forms must be completed and submitted to the office before your child attends preschool. If your child does not have all the immunizations due to medical reasons, a doctor's report is required to explain the situation.

Please Keep Your Child Home if . . .

  • Has a green, yellow  or brown nasal discharge
  • Has or has had a fever 24 hours prior to their school day
  • Has a bad cold
  • Has vomited within 24 hours
  • Is fussy, cranky, and generally not themselves
  • Has symptoms of a a communicable disease

We are sensitive to children with allergies and special needs

Emergency Protocols and Health Guidlines

In case of accidental injury at school, we will contact you or someone on your list. If an eye, head, or back injury occurs in any form, we will call you immediately. 911 will be called for emergencies. It is essential that we have current phone numbers at all times in the office.

The school must be notified at once if they have a communicable disease. Examples include lice, hand, foot, and mouth disease, measles, whooping cough, COVID-19, and other communicable diseases. A signed doctor's note is mandatory to have your child return to school.

If your child needs to have medication administered if they are here all day or have a need for an EPI pen or inhaler if the need arises, a required STATE form must be filled out by the parent and placed in the child's file.

Emergency Preparation

Children's World has given much consideration to emergency situations if they occur on site. Our staff will have completed CPR and First Aid as mandated by the State of California.

The preschool does monthly earthquake and fire drills. Additionally, school utilities, including smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, telephones, and answering machines, are frequently evaluated. Lockdowns are also implemented once or twice a year.

Emergency information forms will be collected and placed in each classroom. It is very important that you keep your information updated.

We will use the church next door, Higher Vision Church, if we need to evacuate our preschool. If the school needs to leave the area, we will move down to Juanamaria Elementary School located on Telegraph behind the Smart & Final shopping center.

Emergency Response Plan

The primary responsibility of the staff is to remain at school to see to the safety of your children. We will await the arrival of the parents to pick up their children. A notification app will be used to contact you. A process will be in place to release students.

Don't try to come to school before it is safe to do so. There is no advantage to jeopardizing your own safety or interfering with the movement of emergency vehicles.

The staff have families elsewhere but are mandated to stay until all children are picked up. Children's World will allow staff to leave one at a time when it is safe.

Emergency Cards

Emergency cards are to be filled out and returned to your teacher on the first day of school.

Unscheduled Closures

Children's World will close our school if the Ventura School District is closed due to an earthquake, fire, or other emergency.
