Social Action Committee

Our Social Action Committee is continuously looking to cure inequities. Among the issues the Committee has addressed are:

  • Continued support of the Pictsweet Mushroom workers.
  • Participated in hosting the Reproductive Rights programs.
  • Collected sundries and medicines from TBT members and physicians to be taken to Cuban Jews on two visits made by SAC members.
  • Co-sponsored two community forums at TBT on neurobiological disorders.
  • Provided donations, publicity and participants for the annual Crop Walk Against Hunger.
  • Continuous advocacy for Israel, Jews and social issues.
  • High Holy Days food and clothing drives.
  • Support of and attendance at Women of Vision conferences.
  • Established a series of dialogues with the Pastor and members of All Saints Episcopal Church in Oxnard to further understanding of each other’s culture and religion.
  • Sponsored a program with speakers from League of Women Voters to explain the initiatives in the election.

These are but a few of the many human rights efforts by our Social Action Committee.

Mitzvah Day

Our Temple holds semi-annual Mitzvah Days during which our congregants work feverishly around our own synagogue performing maintenance and making necessary improvements as well as going out to the community.
